History

America on the Road first ran in 1991 on a network of CBS Radio and Westwood One stations across the country, reaching over 50 million listeners. Initially sponsored by the DrivingToday sponsors (Honda, Mitsubishi, Bridgestone) and other key broadcast supporters like GM, Goodwrench, Amsoil and Bridgestone-Firestone, AOTR helped bolster the automotive content footprint for local radio station managers and helped facilitate broadcast sales deal with local dealerships. America on the Road was for many years the biggest auto oriented radio program on commercial air. Winner of the International Auto & Media Conference Gold Medal for Radio Award.

“Jack Nerad has been the voice of automotive journalism and radio for over 20 years, and I am thrilled to see both Jack and Chris get recognized for their accomplishments in radio and their excellence in automotive journalism.”
